 he Alternative to Out-of-School Suspension Program (ALTOSS) is open to Martin County teens who have been suspended from school. ALTOSS provides a safe, supervised learning experience for the child. Our mission is to give you peace of mind while providing an opportunity for growth for the teen.
Since 1999 we have helped families and adolescent students experiencing difficulties in school to gain the stability and strength to interact positively in their daily environment.
The ALTOSS Program helps students develop the skills to cope with their individual situations.
Our Services:
Educational Instruction
A tutor is available for students so they are able to keep up with their schoolwork and maintain their educational standing.
Group Therapeutic Sessions
Sessions are Provided by a licensed mental health professional, students participate in group counseling sessions to learn new skills and how to use those skills in their daily lives. Sessions include:
• Managing anger and frustration
• Developing problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Substance abuse education
Group Activities
Coordinated through an activities specialist, small group activities help students improve:
• Social skills
• Self-reliance
• Self-respect
•
Team Building
Community Service Projects
Supervision is provided through a Tykes & Teens program specialist. Students learn to build a positive self-image and gain self-respect through community-based services. Participants use this time to “give back” to their community.
